Download Waste Tally on your phone or tablet from the App Store, then open the app. You can try the demo, or sign in and create your first location. Most owners are logging waste within a few minutes. For step-by-step guides inside the app, open More → Help. Waste Tally isn't on Android yet.
No. When you create a location, pick a starting template — Waste Tally fills in the stations, categories, items and day periods for you, with costs already filled in. Everything it creates belongs to that location: rename it, delete it, add to it. Per-item costs are optional too, so you can start logging before you have a single figure. If you'd rather hand your menu over, the setup-help answer below is for you.
Yes. If you want help uploading your menu, bulk-updating item costs, or getting your locations configured, email support@wastetally.com and tell us what you need. We'll work with you to get you up and running.
Yes. Tap the location name at the top of the app to switch between locations. Free accounts include one location; Pro puts every location you run under one login, in the app. To see them all in one view on the web instead, that's Business — compare them.
There's nothing for them to learn. The shared tablet is already signed in, so there is no login and nothing to remember: open Track Waste, pick the station if that location has more than one, and tap the item that went in the bin. Press and hold an item instead when a whole tray is going. The tablet stays locked to its one location and can't open your account or your settings, so it can sit on the line all day. Shared-tablet logging is part of the Business plan.
No. On the Business plan, staff log waste on a shared tablet on the floor — you pair it once by scanning a QR code from the web dashboard with the tablet's camera, or by typing the 8-character code it shows instead. The tablet stays locked to its location, and you can sign it out remotely from the web dashboard if it ever walks off. Nobody on the floor installs anything or creates a login.
You get to see your own number first. Waste Tally adds up what gets thrown out and shows the running cost by item, by category, by day period and day by day — so instead of a guess about food cost you get the list of what is actually costing you, and when it happens. We don't publish a savings figure, because what you save depends on what you change. One location is free for as long as you want it, which is long enough to find out.
Pro unlocks email reports (send or schedule summaries to your team), daily logs, full waste history, and every location you run — all under one login. The free plan includes one location and four weeks of history. Upgrade in the app (More → Subscription) or after you sign in on the web. Pro lives in the mobile app, one location on screen at a time — if you want a web dashboard across every location you run, see the Business plan below.
No — Pro is flat. $8.99/month on the web covers every location you run: running 5 locations on Pro is still $8.99/month, not $95/month. Only the Business plan is priced per location — pricing shows the two side by side.
Yes. After you sign in, open your account to subscribe with web billing — $8.99/month or $89.99/year. The same Pro plan through the App Store is $9.99/month or $99.99/year. You get the same features either way. Already subscribed through Apple? Manage that subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions — you don't need a second plan.
Business is Waste Tally on the web — org-wide totals, one menu pushed to every location, shared kiosk tablets, and past entries reserved for managers. It's priced per location; see pricing for the line-by-line comparison, or sign in to set it up.
It can be. One location still gets the kiosk tablet (it pairs by QR and can log waste, nothing else) and corrections that only a manager can make, so a day's numbers hold when you're not in the kitchen. Pricing compares it with Pro side by side.
It depends where you subscribed. If you upgraded in the app, manage billing in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. If you subscribed on the web, sign in and open your account to open the billing portal. Your Pro access stays active until the end of the current billing period after you cancel.
In the app, go to More → Subscription and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same account you used to subscribe. If it still doesn't look right, email us at support@wastetally.com and we'll sort it out.
Not yet. Waste Tally is on the App Store today — iOS only. Email support@wastetally.com if you'd like us to let you know when Android is available.
If you're just trying the demo, you can explore without Wi‑Fi. Once you sign in and create a location, you need an internet connection to load your data and log waste. Pro lets you use the same account on any phone or tablet you sign in with — when you're online.
Day-to-day waste tracking happens in the app. This website is for signing in, managing your account, upgrading on the web, and updating your password or connected sign-in methods. Open your account after you sign in.
Email reports are a Pro feature. In the app, open Waste Summary → Email reports to send a one-off summary or schedule weekly or monthly reports to anyone on your team. Reports include your waste totals and trends for the period you choose, and can include the summary as a PDF or CSV attachment.
Email can't be changed in the app today. Email support@wastetally.com from the address you want on the account and tell us the new email you'd like to use.
Your waste data is encrypted in transit. We don't sell your information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
